Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today placed outfielder Justin Huber on the active roster and announced that right-handed pitcher Mauro Zarate has been transferred to Class AA San Antonio.

Huber, who turns 26 on July 1, batted .246 (15-for-61) with three doubles, two home runs, eight RBIs and five runs scored in 33 games for the Padres this season before being outrighted to Portland on June 17. Acquired from the Kansas City Royals on March 26, Huber becomes the fourth Australian-born Portland player since the team returned to the Pacific Coast League in 2001, joining Adrian Burnside (2007), Chris Oxspring (2004-05) and Ben Risinger (2003-06) in that distinction.

Zarate, 25, is 1-0 with a 5.26 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 18 relief appearances with the Beavers this season.

The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
