Beavers Activate Hensley, Robles; Dowdy, Shabala Placed On Disabled List

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today placed right-handed pitcher Clay Hensley and infielder Oscar Robles on the active roster and placed infielder Brett Dowdy (left lower back soreness) and outfielder Adam Shabala (right big toe contusion) on the disabled list.

Hensley, 27, was 1-1 with a 7.30 ERA in three major league rehabilitation starts with the Beavers recently. Hensley was placed on the San Diego Padres 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin May 4 (retroactive to May 3) after going 1-3 with a 7.62 ERA in six starts with San Diego to start the season. The right-hander was reinstated from the Padres disabled list and optioned to Portland on June 1. In parts of two seasons with Portland (2005; 2007), Hensley is 3-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 18 appearances (17 starts).

Robles, 31, also was optioned to Portland on June 1 after batting .238 with two RBIs in 21 games with San Diego. Robles, who was recalled by the Padres on April 23, started the year with the Beavers, batting .309 with three doubles, three triples, six RBIs and six runs scored in 16 games.

Dowdy, 25, has not played since May 26 and is batting .241 with five doubles, one triple, five RBIs and 19 runs scored in 38 games for Portland.

Shabala, 29, is batting .168 with one home run, four doubles, two triples, eight RBIs and 18 runs scored in 48 games this season.

The Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
