Sounds Tune Out Sidewinders

June 4, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Nashville, TN - The Nashville Sounds scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and R.A. Dickey baffled the Sidewinders with his knuckleball in 3 2/3 innings of one hit relief as the Nashville Sounds beat the Sidewinders 5-3 on Monday night at Greer Stadium.

The Sounds had a 5-1 lead when the Sidewinders started a rally against Nashville starter Tim Dillard in the fifth. Mark Johnson had a RBI single and Augie Ojeda a RBI double to bring Tucson to within 5-3. Dickey entered and hit Dave Krynzel with a pitch to load the bases but struck out pinch hitter Rich Thompson and got Danny Richar to ground out to first to end the inning.

Dickey evened his record at 4-4. The only hit he allowed was Jeff Salazar's infield single in the sixth.

Enrique Gonzalez was charged with the loss. Gonzalez (2-5) allowed five runs on six hits in just four innings.

Nashville scored three times in the first with the ball rarely leaving the infield. Ozzie Chavez and Vinny Rottino had singles but the Sounds scored their runs on Drew Anderson's high chopper off the plate, a wild pitch by Gonzalez and an infield single from Brad Nelson.

Jose Macias' two run single in the third gave Nashville a 5-0 lead.

Gonzalez single in the fourth inning plated Ojeda for the Sidewinders first run and Gonzalez's first RBI of the season.

Tucson left 11 men on base.

The Sidewinders and Sounds will wrap up their four game series on Tuesday afternoon at Greer Stadium. Right-hander D.J. Carrasco (2-4, 5.13) starts for Tucson against right-hander Chris Oxspring (4-3, 2.88) for Nashville. First pitch is at 10:00am Tucson time. The game will air LIVE on the internet at www.tucsonsidewinders.com beginning at 10:00 and can be heard on a tape delayed basis at 6:00pm on COOL 1450.
