
Beato Tosses Six Solid Innings in 3-2 Win Over Hillcats

Frederick RHP Pedro Beato allowed just two runs over six solid innings of work tonight, as the Keys defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats, 3-2.
The Keys got the early lead in the bottom of the second. With two men down, RF Billy Rowell doubled to left. C Caleb Joseph then ripped a triple down the left field line, scoring Rowell, and giving Frederick the early 1-0 lead. DH Bobby Stevens knocked in Joseph with a single, to make it 2-0.
Frederick tacked on their third and final run in the third inning. With one out, SS Pedro Florimon doubled to left. He was knocked in by 1B Brandon Waring on a single.
Beato set down the first ten Hillcats he faced. Lynchburg finally got to him in the fifth. C Kris Watts led off the inning with a double. Watts advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on a sac fly to make it a 3-1 game.
Lynchburg made it a one-run game in the sixth. 2B Jose De Los Santos led off the frame with a walk. De Los Santos stole second, and scored on 3B Pedro Alvarez's RBI double, making it a 3-2 game.
Beato exited after the sixth, having allowed just the two runs on five hits.
RHP Cliff Flagello and LHP Brett Bordes pitched scoreless seventh and eighth innings respectively. Keys closer RHP Luis Lebron slammed the door shut in the ninth, striking out the side in the process.
Beato got the win, improving to 2-3. Lynchburg LHP Paul Mildren took the loss. The Australian southpaw allowed three runs over six innings. He's now 1-4. Lebron notched his seventh save of the season.
The Keys open up a four-game series with the Kinston Indians tomorrow evening at Harry Grove Stadium. Frederick and the K-Tribe will play two games tomorrow. The first, beginning at 5:00, will be the completion of a game suspended by rain on May 17th. Game two, a seven-inning affair, will begin approximately a half hour after the conclusion of game one.
