Hershey Bears News Release
After hosting the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic this past Sunday and Monday at Giant Center, the HERSHEY BEARS Hockey club kicks off the stretch run of the 2010-11 season this weekend, with three games in three nights. Friday ¬â¢s game in Atlantic City against the Albany Devils is the beginning of 15 games in 24 nights in the month of February for Mark French ¬â¢s team. HERSHEY brings a six-game winning streak, its longest of the 2010-11 regular season, into Friday ¬â¢s game against the Devils. The six-game winning streak is also the longest current win string in the American Hockey League.
The Manitoba Moose, one point off the North Division lead in the Western Conference, come to Giant Center this Saturday and Sunday, with puck drop Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Sunday ¬â¢s game will begin at 2:00 p.m. HERSHEY took three points out of four against Manitoba last month at MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Tickets are on sale now at the Giant Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911.
Gordon and Fahey shine: Andrew Gordon scored two goals Monday, including the first goal of the game just 16 seconds into the game as the Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference 11-8 at the 2011 AHL All-Star Game at Giant Center. Defenseman Brian Fahey recorded two assists and put three shots on goal for the East as well. Goaltender Braden Holtby missed the game with a lower body injury, but dressed for the contest and was on the Eastern bench. Defenseman Lawrence Nycholat, named to the Eastern Conference team last month, also missed the game due to injury.
Perreault and Beagle to D.C.: After being assigned to HERSHEY during the NHL All- Star break, forwards Mathieu Perreault and Jay Beagle were recalled by the Capitals Tuesday. Both played for Washington in a shootout loss against Montreal at Verizon Center Tuesday night.
Plus a little something extra ¬Â¦: Three HERSHEY skaters hold down the top three spots in plus/minus heading into Friday ¬â¢s game against Albany. Brian Willsie is number one in the AHL with a plus 23, Sean Collins is second with a plus 22, and Andrew Gordon is third at a plus 20.
Practice schedule: The BEARS hit the ice on Thursday at Giant Center for practice at 10:00 a.m., with media availability at approximately 11:15 a.m. HERSHEY will depart for Atlantic City immediately following practice Thursday.
Upcoming promotions: Saturday, February 5 is Penn State Hershey Medical Center T- Shirt night.
