Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, assigned forward Zack Stortini to the Barons in a transaction earlier today.
Stortini, the Oilers third round pick (94th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, was placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Barons Tuesday and cleared waivers today. The 6-4, 215-pounder from Elliot Lake, Ontario has played 256 games at the NHL level, recording 41 points (14-27-41) and serving 718 penalty minutes. As a professional, he has played 373 games, recording 71 points (28-43-71) and served 1,202 penalty minutes. In 32 games this season with the Oilers, he has four assists and has served 76 penalty minutes. Stortini could be in the Barons lineup as early as Friday.
The Barons return to action after the AHL All Star Classic with home games tomorrow and Friday against the Peoria Rivermen at the Cox Center. Faceoff for both contests is 7:05 p.m. Tomorrow is $1 beer night. Fans can enjoy $1 draws of Coors Light and Miller Lite through the second intermission.
Several activities surround Friday's game. The Barons are hosting their first ever Miracles on Ice Night. A variety of 501c3 organizations from across the state have been selling tickets for this game, with $4 of each ticket sold for a particular organization being returned to that organization.
Fans can also meet Oklahoma's own Jet McCoy. Jet and his brother Cord are known throughout Oklahoma for their success in rodeo and bull riding, but they became internationally known with their appearance on the hit show The Amazing Race. Jet will drop the ceremonial first puck and then be available for autographs on the concourse through the first intermission. Cord was originally scheduled to appear, but was called to ride this weekend at the PBR's Portland Invitational in Portland, Oregon.
