
Bears impressive in 4-1 victory over Senators

Marek Svatos and Marty Hlinka lead the way with goals as HERSHEY evens its preseason record at 1-1-0-0 with a 4-1 win over the Senators at GIANT Center.
The BEARS opened up a 1-0 lead when Pierre-Luc Courchesne scored on a shot from the left point in the Binghamton zone. David Masse earned the assist on the goal. After the Senators tied the game at 1 on a goal by Jason Sessa, the BEARS would start to open up the game in the second period. Defenseman Mikko Viitanen scored his first goal of the preseason with a tally against goaltender Billy Thompson with help from Johnny Boychuk. Svatos added a goal at the 2:11 mark of the third period before Hlinka rounded out the scoring with a pretty backhand goal against Senators backstop Kelly Guard at the 6:42 mark of the third.
Peter Budaj earned the win for HERSHEY, allowing one goal in nearly 30 minutes of action. Tom Lawson played the second half of the game, blanking the B-Sens on eight shots. In all, the BEARS outshot Binghamton for the game 34-16.
HERSHEY concludes the preseason schedule this Saturday at Reading when they face the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 p.m.
