Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
WASHINGTON, PA Reggie Lawson launched a grand slam and Brandon Jacobs belted a two-run homer to lift the Traverse City Beach Bums to an 8-3 win at the Washington Wild Things on Sunday afternoon. The win concludes an excellent road trip for the Beach Bums who won six out of nine, including two of three in Washington.
Graham Ramos had three hits. Jacobs, Yazy Arbelo and Jose Vargas each added two.
Lawson drove in four runs with the grand slam and Jacobs contributed with three RBI.
On the mound, Michael Shreves improved to 2-0 as a starter, allowing only two runs on five hits over 5.2 innings pitched.
The Beach Bums led 2-1 after the first inning. In the third inning, they pulled away. Ramoas, Vargas and Jacobs hit singles and with one out, Lawson came up and drilled his grand slam over the left field fence to put the Beach Bums out in front 6-1.
The grand slam was the first for the team since Chase Burch hit one August 29, 2013, also in Washington.
Jacobs hit his two-run homer in the fifth to make the score 8-1 and the Beach Bums cruised to the 8-3 win from there.
