Coco Johnson led a 17-hit attack with two homers and six RBI as the Windy City Thunderbolts (7-13) beat the Rockford Aviators (15-6) 13-2 in the series finale between the clubs Sunday in Frontier League baseball action at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, IL.
Johnson's first homer, a two run blast in the second inning put the T-Bolts ahead 4-2 and capped off a three run rally against Rockford starter Nick Grim (0-2). Windy City starter Travis Tingle (1-4) made it hold as he allowed just two runs on seven hits in seven innings. The Aviators scored their only runs on a first inning homer by Brian Bistagne and a second inning ground out by Anthony Renteria.
The Aviators return home to open a six game homestand at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL versus the Lake Erie Crushers on Tuesday night (June 9, 6:35 pm). Call the Aviators Office at 815-885-2255 for tickets or information, or go to rockfordaviators.com.
