
Beach Bums Blown out by 'Bolts

CRESTWOOD, IL - The Traverse City Beach Bums(19-24) fell behind early as the Windy City Thunderbolts(15-28) added runs all night long, in an 18-2 decision.
After a scoreless first, Windy City got the scoring started in the second. Jonathan McCray singled in the game's first run, then he and Riley Crane scored on an error to make it 3-0. Tim Zier added an exclamation point to the inning with a three run homer, his third of season, to double to Windy City advantage.
Max Dutto led off the third by getting hit by a pitch, as the Beach Bums tried to chip away at the lead. Josh Hauser followed with a single, then Orlando Rivera hit an RBI single to score Dutto to get the Bums on the board. Unfortunately for the Beach Bums, Windy City continued to add up runs. In the bottom of the inning, Tyler Straub hit an RBI double and Larry Balkwill hit a two-run homer.
In the fourth, Blair Beck hit a two- run home run as well. Omar Obregon, Zier, Axel Johnson, and Beck each hit RBI singles for a 15-1 advantage. Johnson hit an RBI double in the seventh and Obregon drove in two with a double in the eighth to complete the Thunderbolts scoring. Josh Hauser led off the ninth with a double and later scored on a Noah McGowan single, closing out the game's offense.
Zac Westcott was the winner in tonight's game for Windy City as he improved to 3-6 on the season. He went seven innings and allowed a single run on seven hits and two walks while striking out nine. Justin Finan pushed through four innings, giving up 11 runs on 10 hits and two walks. He falls to 0-2.
On Sunday, the Beach Bums and the Windy City Thunderbolts conclude this weekend's three game series with the rubber match. Jake Welch gets the start for Windy City while Reinaldo Lopez takes the hill for the Beach Bums. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05pm eastern time, and Tom Willms will have the call, starting with the Budweiser pregame show, at 5:45pm.
