
Beach Bums Beat Washington in Late Night Effort

Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - After a two hour and 32 minute rain delay, the Traverse City Beach Bums(14-20) defeated the Washington Wild Things(23-12) by a final score of 3-2.
The Beach Bums loaded the bases in the second inning on a Steve Lohr walk, and singles by Alexis Rivera and Alec Olund, following a scoreless first. Traverse City took some advantage with Josh Hauser drawing a bases loaded walk for a 1-0 lead. Isaac Benard doubled the lead in the third with a solo homer to left, his fourth homer of the season.
Washington chipped away at the lead with an RBI single by Mike Hill in the fourth and James Harris scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth, tying the game at five. In the sixth, Lohr led off with another walk, then Alexis Rivera picked up an infield hit followed Olund singling to right, loading the bases with nobody out. Noah McGowan stepped to the plate and dribbled a grounder towards third. Third baseman Mike Hill's only play was to tag Rivera out at the base as Lohr scored the eventual winning run.
The Frontier League's reigning pitcher of the week gutted his way through five innings of work, allowing one earned run on four hits and four walks while striking out seven. He improved to 5-0 on the season. Thomas Dorminy suffered the loss to drop to 5-2 as he went seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits and five walks. John Michael Knighton gave up a couple of hits in the ninth but also struck out two for his fourth save of the season.
On Thursday, the Beach Bums and Wild Things play the rubber game/finale of this week's three game set. Danny Garmendia gets the call for Washington and Reinaldo Lopez starts for the Beach Bums.
