Beach and Constantine Finalists for WHL Awards

Everett Silvertips forward Kyle Beach and Head Coach Kevin Constantine have been named Western Conference finalists for WHL Awards. The winners of the awards along with the WHL Player of the Year will be announced at the 2006-2007 WHL Awards Luncheon in Calgary on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007.

Beach is a finalist for the Jim Piggott Trophy as the WHL's Rookie of the Year. The Kelowna, BC native had a spectacular rookie season with the Silvertips posting 29 goals and 31 assists for 61 points in 65 games this season. Beach finished third on the Silvertips hockey club in scoring and first on the team in +/-, with a +27. The Silvertips first round draft pick (10th overall) in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft also received the Everett Silvertips Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the season. Prince Albert Raiders forward Matt Robertson is the Eastern Conference finalist for the award.

Silvertips Head Coach Kevin Constantine is a finalist for the Dunc McCallum Trophy as the WHL's Coach of the Year. Constantine along with Associated Head Coach John Becanic and Assistant Coach Jay Varady helped the Silvertips to the best record in the WHL during the 2006-2007 season with a record of 54-15-1-2 (111 points). This season the Silvertips captured their third US Division title along with their first WHL Regular Season Championship. The International Falls, Minnesota native has recorded 162 career WHL victories in his four seasons with Everett. Kootenay Ice Head Coach Cory Clouston is the Eastern Conference finalist for the award.

The Silvertips have won two awards at the WHL Awards Luncheon. Silvertips Head Coach Kevin Constantine won the Dunc McCallum Trophy as the WHL's Coach of the Year after the 2003-2004 regular season while Silvertips forward Peter Mueller won the Jim Piggott Trophy as the WHL's Rookie of the Year after the 2005-2006 season.

The Silvertips will begin the 2007 WHL Playoffs on Friday, March 23 against the Spokane Chiefs at the Everett Events Center.
