
Baysox Ready To Kick Off 2009

BOWIE, MD - The Bowie Baysox, Class AA Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, will hold their 10th annual Free Family FunFest RAIN or SHINE on Saturday, March 28 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Join the Baysox lovable mascot Louie and his pal the Oriole Bird for a day of FREE fun at Prince George's Stadium.
Director of Promotions Lauren Phillips is particularly excited for this year's FunFest. "Our free Family FunFest has always been a big hit in the past and we look forward to bringing it back this year! The Baysox strive to be an integral part of our community, and our annual FunFest invites the community into our home for a day of fun for all ages. We look forward to kicking off another exciting year of Baysox baseball at FunFest."
This year's FunFest will offer music all day, as well as inflatables and The Tumblebus, which will be set up in the parking lot. There will be a scavenger hunt on the concourse level of the stadium and other activities on the field! The Kids Park will be open for FREE, including face painters. Fans can also stop by the Baysox gift shop to check out all the great new merchandise for 2009.
The Baysox are excited to have Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department join in on the fun this year. The fire department will bring a fire truck and other interactive activities for families.
Baysox General Manager Brian Shallcross has watched the event grow over the years. "Our Free Family FunFest has grown to become a 'can't miss' family activity for our community. We cherish the opportunity to host the free event annually and look forward to seeing everybody on the 28th. Our FunFest event is a great way to kick off a new season of Baysox baseball."
The younger fans in attendance are also invited to sign up for Louie's Kids Club at FunFest. The Kids Club is open to all fans ages 12 and under, and is FREE to join! The Baysox will host a special Kids Club event each month of the 2009 season, and all members will receive one free gift for attending any Baysox game in 2009.
FunFest is also the earliest fans can purchase individual game tickets for the 2009 season. Tickets will be available at the Baysox box office throughout the day. The Baysox will host a special luncheon for season ticket holders in the Diamond View Restaurant during FunFest.
The Baysox will open their 17th season as the class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, April 8, in Akron. The team will play its first game back home at Prince George's Stadium on Thursday, April 16.
