New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - On Saturday morning, March 7th, the New Britain Rock Cats will swing open the gates of their ballpark for the first time in 2009 to warmly welcome - for the 10th year in a row - local baseball fans of all ages to the Eastern League club's annual FanFest. This early March festival has become a much anticipated yearly event as it both heralds the imminent arrival of Spring, and provides Connecticut and Western Massachusetts fans the opportunity to visit and tour New Britain Stadium just prior to the start of another season of Rock Cats Baseball. Last year's FanFest attracted some 3,000 excited visitors.

This year's event will also provide fans with the opportunity to donate blood to their neighbors, as the American Red Cross' famous Donor Bus will be stationed just outside the Stadium's Main Gate on Saturday from 9:45 AM to 2:00 PM. Unlike baseball, the need for blood never has an off-season - local supplies are currently down, making Saturday a great opportunity for thoughtful fans to stop by the Donor Bus and donate "the gift of life". Those wishing to schedule an appointment in advance may do so by contacting the American Red Cross at www.givelife.org or by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE.

Saturday's FanFest gathering also provides local baseball fans with their very first opportunity to purchase tickets for any of the 71 Rock Cats home games that will be played at New Britain Stadium in the 2009 Season.

All fans who attend the 10 AM to 2 PM event are strongly encouraged to bring their children as, in addition to discounted deals on a wide variety of Rock Cats and other merchandise in the team's Third Base Shop, those in attendance will also be invited to munch on complimentary hot dogs, "high-five" team mascot "Rocky", play on bouncy inflatables, and enjoy their choice of free games, raffles, as well as a behind-the-scenes Tour of the Stadium. Stops on the very popular free Tour will again include the home Clubhouse, home Dugout, the Press Box, and an upper level Luxury Suite. The tasty ballpark refreshments, Stadium Tour and games are, like the FanFest's admission, all free.

The raffles will be conducted throughout the day giving those in attendance the opportunity to win 2009 game tickets and/or team merchandise.

The Eastern League club is, once again, asking its generous fans to consider bringing a non-perishable food item to the FanFest for donation to a nearby family in need. The Rock Cats continue to collaborate with local charitable organizations to make sure such donations reach our neediest neighbors.
