BayHawks Soar Out Of Dakota With A Win

BISMARCK, ND: Erie center Erik Daniels dominated the paint scoring a game high 26 point helping the BayHawks cruise past the Dakota Wizards tonight 102-87 at the Bismarck Civic Center.

The BayHawks started strong leading at the half 56-42 after a long bus drive from Sioux Falls this afternoon. However, the third quarter started with a run by Dakota (21-11) pulling them to within three points (64-67) on a lay-up by Wizards forward Quemont Greer at the 3:59 mark. Erie came right back with a run of their own though scoring the next 14 points to end the third quarter.

"We couldn't make a basket tonight", said Wizards head coach Duane Ticknor. "You can not win in this league with turnovers and our guys should be embarrassed by 20 turnovers in a game. We have to score and take care of the ball".

Erie had five of their eight players who played finish in double figures led by Daniels double double (26 points 12 rebounds). Guard Oliver Lafayettte finished the match up with 20 points while dishing out seven assists and pulling down eight boards, Forward Ivan Harris had 19 points while guard Maureece Rice nailed 18 points in the victory. Erie moves to 3-2 on the season.

Dakota Falls to 1-3 on the year and was lead by veteran guard Maurice Baker with 15 points and five assists. Guard David Bell and forward Will Frisby both finished the evening with 13 points, while forward Renaldo Major had 12 points in the loss.

The Wizards meet up with Central Division rival Sioux Falls at the Bismarck Civic Center Sunday night tip-off at 6:00 pm CT in the first of seven match ups with the Skyforce. Erie finally gets to open their home season after spending the first two weeks of the season on the road. The BayHawks play the Iowa Energy on Thursday December 11th.
