Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Dec. 5 - The Erie BayHawks outscored the Sioux Falls Skyforce 12-10 in overtime to pick up a 109-107 victory in front of 3,032 boisterous fans at the Sioux Falls Arena tonight. Leemire Goldwire missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds as Erie left Sioux Falls with a weekend split.
The BayHawks led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter but once again allowed the Skyforce to get back into the game for the second straight night. Michael Joiner scored nine points in the third quarter to help the Skyforce cut the lead to five points (76-71) heading into the final quarter.
The game was tied four times in the final three minutes of regulation with the final tie coming after a Reggie Williams basket with 4.1 seconds remaining. After a turnover by Donell Taylor, Sioux Falls had a chance to win the game in regulation but they failed to get off a shot before the buzzer and the teams headed into overtime tied at 97 apiece.
Sioux Falls took their first lead of the game 30 seconds into overtime on a driving lay-up by Goldwire but it would be their only lead of the night as John Bryant scored seven points in the extra stanza to help lead Erie to victory.
Bryant posted a monster double-double with 29 points and 16 rebounds while shooting 12-of-17 from the field. Former NBA player Taylor was right behind Bryant with 28 points and Cedric Jackson chipped in with 19 points off the bench.
Reggie Williams scored a game-high 33 points while Goldwire and Joiner posted 16 points apiece. Greg Stiemsma flirted with a triple-double as he recorded 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks.
Both teams are off until next Saturday night as Sioux Falls visits Fort Wayne at 6:30 p.m. CT and Erie hosts Maine in their home opener at 7 p.m. ET.
