
Vipers Win Third Straight Game In Tulsa

TULSA, Oklahoma- Mike Harris, a day after matching his D-League career high of 30, scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers knocked off the Tulsa 66ers 94-89 Saturday night at the Tulsa Convention Center. The win is Rio Grande Valley's third straight, matching their longest winning streak from the 2008-09 season.
In what was a sloppy game filled with turnovers after a hectic travel day for both teams, the game settled down in the second half and was back and forth throughout the night. The Vipers racked up 23 turnovers while the 66ers gave the ball away on 19 occasions.
The Vipers were struggling with their shot early falling behind 28-20 after the end of the first quarter. The Vipers then exploded to start the second frame. Garrett Temple scored seven points on an 11-0 Vipers run to begin play in the second to give RGV a 31 -28 lead, their first since early in the first quarter. RGV and Tulsa traded the lead 12 times and were even at 10 different moments.
Temple led the scoring punch for the Vipers, scoring 23 points in the win. Houston Rockets assignee Joey Dorsey added his second double- double of he season, scoring 12 while hauling in 12 boards, dishing out four assists and blocking a career high five shots. Ernest Scott added 13 off the bench as he hit three three-point buckets for the second straight night.
Oklahoma City assignee Byron Mullens led the scoring effort for the 66ers, scoring 21 with nine boards. Mustafa Shakur, a day after scoring 24 points with 10 assists, struggled by turning the ball over eight times. Shakur did score 15 points while dishing out five assists in the loss for Tulsa.
The Vipers continue their two-game road swing in Austin on Tuesday morning when they face the Austin Toros. Tuesday will be RGV's final visit to Austin this season. Tip-off for the morning game is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
