SAN ANTONIO'S HAIRSTON ASSIGNED TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE AUSTIN TOROS

San Antonio Spurs forward Malik Hairston was assigned to the Austin Toros, the Spurs NBA D-League affiliate. The assignment is the fifth of the 2009-10 NBA D-League season, and the third for Hairston from the Spurs to the Toros in two years. Originally selected in the second round (48th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, Hairston was traded to San Antonio, where he spent 2008 training camp before joining the Toros. He then earned a GATORADE Call-Up from the Toros to the Spurs on Dec. 22, 2008 and was twice assigned back to the Toros. In 30 total games for the Toros last season, Hairston averaged 22.9 points, third-best in the NBA D-League, to go with 5.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 41.3 minutes. He scored an individual career-high 43 points against the Colorado 14ers on Jan. 11.

STAMPEDE ADD CEDRIC SIMMONS TO ROSTER

The Idaho Stampede announced they have acquired forward Cedric Simmons. Simmons was selected in the first round (15th overall pick) of the 2006 NBA Draft by the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets. In his two seasons with the NBA, Simmons played for three teams including the Hornets, Cavaliers, and Bulls. He played in 57 games, including four starts, and averaged 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

BAKERSFIELD JAM AQUIRES TYRELLE BLAIR TO REPLACE SWIFT

After leaving the Jam to deal with a personal matter, Bakersfield native Robert Swift has been replaced on the roster by 6'11", 242-lb. center Tyrelle Blair. Blair played last season in Ukraine for MBC Mykolaiv, averaging 5.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game over a 24-game span. He spent the previous two seasons at Boston College, where he averaged 5.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game as a senior in 2007-08. Prior to that, Blair played at Loyola-Chicago from 2003-05.

FRIDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Friday's games:

Sioux Falls' Reggie Williams led all scorers with 35 points and Greg Stiemsma finished with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Skyforce.

Erie's Jackie Manuel led six BayHawks scoring in double figures with 20 points while John Bryant scored 12 points and pulled down 14 boards.

Mike Harris tied his career-high with 30 points to lead the Rio Grande Valley Vipers past the Tulsa 66ers, 104-100. On assignment from the Houston Rockets, Joey Dorsey set a new career-high with five assists while chipping in nine points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Antonio Anderson had 16 points, six rebounds and nine assists while Jonathan Wallace scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Keith McLeod scored 27 points and dished 10 assists as the Albuquerque Thunderbirds came from behind to knock off the Austin Toros 119 -110. Carlos Powell filled the box score with a season-high 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Yaroslav Korolev also topped the twenty point mark, with a season-high 22 points and nine rebounds.

Malik Hairston, who was assigned to the Toros earlier in the day, scored 23 points for the visitors. Dwayne Jones also scored 23 for Austin, adding 16 rebounds. Curtis Jerrels (20), Alonzo Gee (16) and Lewis Clinch (10) also scored in double figures.

Mustafa Shakur led the 66ers with 24 points to go with 10 assists, four steals and four rebounds. Oklahoma City Thunder-assignee Byron Mullens also recorded a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Desmon Farmer led six Bighorns in double-figures with 18 points and nine assists. Rod Benson recorded his second-straight double-double with 17 points and 10 boards, while Russell Robinson dished out 10 assists and 10 points for a double-double of his own . Cezary Trybanski came off the bench to score 10 points and block nine shots.

Diamon Simpson posted the D-Fender's only double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds. James Jackson scored 22 off the bench for Los Angeles.

Mario West, the adidas Player of the Game, led the Red Claws with 19 points while Tony Bobbitt added 14. Alexis Ajinca, on assignment from the Charlotte Bobcats, grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

JamesOn Curry had a game-high 26 for the visiting Armor.

ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS: A look at NBA D-League Alumni in last night's NBA games:

23 players with NBA D-League experience competed in nine NBA games last night, three as starters.

As a starter for New Orleans, Devin Brown added 19 points to the Hornets 98-89 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Detroit's Will Bynum tallied 12 points, five rebounds and five assists to help the Pistons defeat the Bucks 105-96.
