MOBILE, Ala. - After a sweep at the hands of the Biscuits to begin their 10-game homestand, the BayBears welcomed the Huntsville Stars to town on Saturday night, but the results weren't much better, a 12-6 loss at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Huntsville (16-15) smacked 18 hits, the most allowed by the BayBears (19-17) this season. The barrage began early with the Stars tagging Matt Torra (1-4) for four runs in the first two frames. Adam Stern singled to begin the contest and scored on a double by Jonathan Lucroy.

With the Stars up 4-0 in the second, the BayBears made their strongest attempt at a comeback against left-hander Chris Cody (3-1) who surrendered a multiple-run inning for the first time this year. It began with Mark Hallberg getting drilled by an 0-2 fastball and moving up to second on a Greg Bordes walk. Both men scored as Evan Frey sailed a triple over Stern's head in center.

Frey came home on a base hit by Chris Rahl to make it 4-3, but the BayBears wouldn't get closer. Huntsville continued to tack on runs as they scored in every inning except the sixth and ninth. Yohannis Perez had four hits, even Cody got into the action with an RBI double in the fifth.

Three of the runs scored on Torra were unearned thanks to a pair of errors. Reid Mahon allowed four runs in his inning-plus while Jason Urquidez tossed two scoreless frames.

Right-hander Wes Roemer (0-1, 3.00) takes the ball for the BayBears on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 against Huntsville. For Hank Aaron Stadium ticket information, please call (251) 479-BEAR or log on to www.mobilebaybears.com.
