August 30, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
The Mobile BayBears scored early and often on Friday night, cruising to a 10-2 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Hank Aaron Stadium. It was the third straight setback overall for the Wahoos and the 16th loss in 22 games against Mobile this season.
The BayBears took advantage of nearly every opportunity Pensacola gave them during the contest, starting in the second inning. With a runner at first and two outs, Keon Broxton's high fly ball to right-center field got lost in the lights and fell for a two-out RBI double, putting Mobile up 1-0. The BayBears would get an RBI single from Sawyer Carroll before back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Nick Ahmed, who unloaded them with a three-run double to open a 5-0 lead.
Pensacola got a pair of runs in the top of the third on a fielder's choice and throwing error to cut the deficit to 5-2 before Mobile unloaded on Daniel Renken yet again. After an error on Corey Wimberly extended the inning, Carroll tripled to right-center, just out of the reach of Theo Bowe in center to drive in two to make it 7-2.
Mobile would go on to add two in the fifth on a sac fly and an error before capping their offensive explosion with a Rossmel Perez RBI single in the last of the sixth.
Archie Bradley (W, 12-5) picked up his sixth consecutive win with five innings of work, allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk. The 12th win also moved Bradley into the league lead in victories.
Renken (L, 6-9) didn't make it out of the fifth inning for Pensacola, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 4.1 innings. The Wahoos right-hander struck out three and walked four.
Pensacola will look to snap its three-game losing skid on Saturday night in Mobile at 7:05 p.m. Jon Moscot (2-1, 3.81) will get the ball for the Wahoos while the BayBears will counter with southpaw Andrew Chafin (10-7, 2.97). Fans can listen live on News Talk 1370 AM WCOA with the Pensacola Motorsports Pregame Show at 6:45 p.m.
