Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped their second game in a row to the Montgomery Biscuits, falling by a score of 6-2 in front of 6,120 fans at Regions Field.

Both teams would battle through 3.0 scoreless frames to begin the game with starter Scott Carroll striking out one over three prefect innings.

Carroll would exit after the third in favor of Jarrett Casey (0-1, 6.94), who promptly allowed the first hit of the game to Shawn O'Malley on a home run to left field. Todd Glaesmann would follow later in the inning with a two-run ground rule double to give the Biscuits a 3-0 lead.

The Barons would get a run back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double by Dan Black, scoring Cody Puckett. The RBI was Black's team-leading 81st of the season.

Montgomery would victimize Casey again in the fifth when Delmon Young crushed a two-run home run over the home run porch to increase the Biscuits lead to 5-1.

Tyler Saladino would tack on a sacrifice fly for the Barons in the seventh but it wasn't enough to pull out the victory.

With the loss, the Barons fell to 75-62 and 31-36 in the second half while Montgomery improved to 70-67 and 33-34 in the second half.

The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow night as RHP Chris Beck (1-2, 3.43) takes the hill against RHP Joe Van Meter (0-3, 6.92). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM CDT.
