
BayBears Power Past Suns on Tuesday

Mobile, Ala. - Cyle Hankerd and Orlando Mercado combined to drive in all the Mobile BayBears (26-20) runs with three hits each in a 5-1 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (23-23) in front of 1,877 Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Matt Torra (2-5) picked up the win for Mobile, allowing one unearned run and five hits with two strikeouts over seven innings. Suns starter Derell McCall, a native of nearby Pensacola, Fla., picked up the loss after allowing three runs and seven hits over five and one-thirds innings.
Mobile catcher Orlando Mercado opened the scoring in the second inning, belting a two-run homerun, his first of the season, for a 2-0 score. Mercado drove in the third run during the fourth inning on a two-out double for a 3-0 BayBears lead.
Jacksonville got on the board in the top of the seventh inning as Ryan Klosterman belted a ground rule double to right-centerfield, cutting the Mobile lead to 3-1.
The BayBears put the game away in the seventh inning when Cyle Hankerd singled in two runs with two out, finishing the scoring at 5-1. Hankerd is now 14-for-23 with three homeruns and 12 RBI in six games against Jacksonville during 2009.
