MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (37-37/2-2) allowed 12 runs on 16 hits in a 12-6 loss to the Mobile BayBears (44-29/2-2) Sunday night at Riverewalk Stadium.
The BayBears had an answer for almost every run-scoring inning the Biscuits put up. After the Biscuits scored two runs in the first inning, Dustin Martin led off the second with a solo shot. Later in the frame, Sean Jamieson cleared the bases with a double to give the BayBears a 4-2 lead.
Luke Maile drove in two runs with a double in the fifth inning to bring the score to 6-4 Mobile, but the BayBears answered right back by bringing all nine men to the plate in the top of the sixth and scoring four times to lead 10-4.
Joey Rickard singled a run home in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it a 10-5 game. Jon Griffin promptly led off the eighth inning with a long solo home run to push it back to a six-run game.
The only run the Biscuits scored that was not answered by the BayBears was a solo home run from Hector Guevara in the eighth inning.
Ryan Brett, Rickard, Guevara and Maile finished with two hits each. Mobile had seven out of the nine starters finish with multiple hits. Evan Marzilli led the way with a 4-for-5 night and two runs scored.
The rubber-match is Monday night at 7:05. RH Roberto Gomez will throw against RH A.J. Schugel.
