Battle Creek Bombers Fall to the Wisconsin Woodchucks, 11-4

Wausau, Wis. - The Battle Creek Bombers fell 11-4 to the Wisconsin Woodchucks, Wednesday night at Athletic Park, getting swept in the two-game series. With the loss, the Bombers fell to 22-22 on the season and 4-4 in the second half.

The Bombers got on the scoreboard first. With the game scoreless in the sixth inning, left fielder Daniel Jipping and designated hitter Christian Helsel each recorded one-out singles. First baseman Nick Podkul followed with a walk to load the bases. Center fielder Dean Miller hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Jipping and give the Bombers the 1-0 lead.

The Woodchucks then scored eight runs against Malcolm Grady and Krystien Johnson-Battilana in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-1 lead against the Bombers.

The Bombers managed to cut the deficit in the seventh inning. Second baseman Cody Sporrer led off the inning with a walk and shortstop Daniel Patzlaff followed with a walk. Catcher Jacob Blunt followed with a single to load the bases. Third baseman Ryan Dorow worked a bases-loaded walk to score Sporrer and give the Bombers their second run of the game.

Daniel Jipping hit a one-out groundout to score Patzlaff and Christian Helsel followed with a sacrifice fly, as Wisconsin's lead was cut to 8-4.

The Woodchucks got those three runs back though in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the 11-4 lead, which would be the final score.

The Bombers now head to Wisconsin Rapids for a two-game stint against the first-half champion Rafters, starting Thursday night at 8:05/7:05 Central.
