Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky - The Louisville Bats (30-27) took the final game of the series against the Buffalo Bisons (28-29), 8-4. The win moved Louisville to 4-3 against Buffalo on the season, the Bats' first season series win against the Bisons since 2009.

The Bats got things started early in the game as they tallied three runs in the first inning off of three hits. Irving Falu led off the game with a double, Jermaine Curtis was hit by a pitch from Bisons lefty Andrew Albers and Eugenio Suarez doubled in both runs after a double steal.

Louisville's bats stayed hot as they tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the third inning, increasing their lead to 6-0. The runs came on an RBI single by Yorman Rodriguez, a sacrifice fly by Chris Dominguez and a balk by Bisons' Albers.

Albers (L, 2-8, 4.33) left the game after three innings. He gave up five hits, six earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Back-to-back doubles by Josh Satin and Suarez were followed by a single from Rodriguez, expanding the gap with the Bisons to 8-0 in the fourth inning.

Right-hander Dylan Axelrod (W, 3-3, 3.69) exited the game after giving up two solo home runs in the seventh inning. He pitched six and two thirds innings, allowing six hits, two home runs, two earned runs, no walks, and three strikeouts.

The Bisons tacked on one in each the final two innings, but it was not enough to overcome the Bats. Righty Drew Hayes entered in the ninth inning to get the final out and was credited with the save, his second of the season.

Suarez led the Bats offensively, falling a home run short of the cycle. He went 3-for-3 with three RBI in the 8-4 win.

The Bats travel to Columbus tomorrow to begin a three game series. Projected to start for Louisville is right-hander Josh Smith (1-2, 3.60) and for Columbus, left-hander Michael Roth (5-2, 3.32).
