LOUISVILLE, KY— A six-run fifth inning highlighted the evening for the Bats as they cruised to a 8-0 victory on an October like evening at Louisville Slugger Field. Bats starting pitcher Matt Belisle (8-9) highlighted the night with his performance not only on the mound, but also at the plate, hitting his first career home run. Belisle also pitched eight innings of two hit baseball, picking up the win for Louisville.

Belisle got the scoring underway for the Bats connecting on the first home run by a Bats pitcher this season, giving Louisville a 1-0 lead. That home run also was the first homer by a Bats pitcher since Joey Hamilton hit one on July 29, 2002 versus Norfolk.

The Bats continued the scoring in the fifth inning on a RBI single by Ray Olmedo, scoring Jerome Alviso. After Alviso reached on a walk, Belisle bunted him over to 2nd allowing him to score, giving the Bats a 2-0 lead. Jermaine Clark looped a single to center field to plate Olmedo and increase the lead to 3-0.

Kenny Kelly's two RBI single capped off the six-run fifth inning for the Bats, giving them a very comfortable 7-0 lead.

That's all the Bats would need, as they extended the lead to 8-0 on a RBI ground out by Corky Miller.

Adrian Hernandez (0-7) started for the Indians, lasting seven innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits, while striking out three.

The time of tonight's game was 2:21 and the attendance was 10,499. The Bats will end the two-game series with the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday, August 14, at 6:15 p.m. The starting pitcher for the Bats is RHP Luke Hudson (2-1, 2.84) and RHP Travis Phelps (7-5, 4.78) will start for the Indians.
