
Bats Lose to Mud Hens, 8-1

The Louisville Bats lost to the Toledo Mud Hens, 8-1. The Mud Hens had a 18 hit game to take the win.
Louisville left-hander Cody Reed (6-4, 3.18) took the loss pitching six innings, allowing 10 hits, two runs, and three walks. Reed threw 93 pitches, 60 for strikes.
Toledo right-hander Donn Roach (2-0, 1.00) earned the win, pitching seven innings, allowing four hits, one run, two walks, striking out seven.
The Mud Hens were the first to get on the board with an RBI double by Jeff McVaney in the fifth scoring two runs, to put the Mud Hens ahead 2-0.
The Bats soon got on the board an inning later in the sixth when Roach threw a wild pitch to bring in catcher Rafael Lopez, but Toledo remained ahead, 2-1.
Toledo first baseman Chad Huffman hit an RBI single in the seventh to score a run for the Mud Hens, to put them up 3-1.
The Mud Hens sent nine batter to the plate breaking open the game bringing in five runs to give them the 8-1 win.
The Bats will be back in action tomorrow night for the last game of the homestand. Major League rehabber Alfredo Simon (0-1, 6.30) will take the mound. The Mud Hens will counter with right-hander Warwick Saupold (5-2, 2.74).
