Bastante Returns to Barnstormers

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed offensive lineman Joe Bastante to the 2024 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Bastante (6'1, 315, Stonehill College) returns to the Iowa Barnstormers for his second season with the team. Collegiately, Bastante spent four seasons at Stonehill College where he appeared in 35 total games. During his time with the Skyhawks, Bastante also received numerous accolades on and off the field including NE-10 Academic Honor Roll and All NE-10 Second Team Honors. In his rookie season in the Indoor Football League, Bastante appeared in all fifteen games with the Iowa Barnstormers. An asset on and off the field, Bastante kept a positive attitude through a difficult season cementing himself as a leader.

"Getting Joe back is huge for us," said Head Coach Mogensen. "He was one of the best centers in the IFL last year, period, and he was in the running for post-season awards. Joe started every game for us up front, stepped in as a rookie into a leadership role when injuries decimated our veterans early on, and performed well against the best the IFL had to offer. He proved himself to be an elite player and I'm hopeful another season of great play in the IFL will get him the higher level opportunity he deserves."

Bastante will join the Barnstormers 2024 Training Camp in the spring.

"I wanted to come back to Iowa to win some games in front of our amazing home fans and continue to take advantage of the opportunity the organization has given to me to showcase my talents," said Bastante.
