Bast Loaned to Hartford Wolf Pack

(PHILADELPHIA, March 6, 2003) - The Philadelphia Flyers today announced that defenseman Ryan Bast has been loaned from the Phantoms to the Hartford Wolf Pack for the remainder of the 2002-03 season.

Bast was acquired by the Flyers with Sami Kapanen on Feb. 7 from the Carolina Hurricanes organization for Bruno St. Jacques and Pavel Brendl. In 11 games with the Phantoms, Bast compiled one assist and 21 penalty minutes. The 27-year-old had recorded one goal and 68 PIM in 45 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters this season prior to joining the Phantoms.

Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Bast was in his second stint with the Phantoms, as he totaled 21 points (1G, 20A) and 358 PIM over 140 games from 1998-2000. He will now be joining the Wolf Pack for the second time, having spent the 2000-01 campaign with them.

Philadelphia is back in action at the First Union Spectrum on Friday, March 7 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Worcester IceCats and on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Lowell Lock Monsters.
