Birmingham Barons News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons will be wearing Hawaiian-themed luau jerseys during their home games against the Carolina Mudcats on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 15th, 16th and 17th, at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The luau jerseys will be worn in an effort to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Alabama (RMHCA).

A silent auction for the luau jerseys will be held at the Hoover Met during each of the three games, all of which begin at 7:05 p.m. Furthermore, supporters of the Ronald McDonald House will be selling red foam noses at tables located inside the main concourse at the Hoover Met during each of the three games. Proceeds from the red noses will go to benefit the new Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.

A total of 30 luau jerseys will be auctioned off, and the minimum bid will be $75. Fans interested in submitting a bid for the luau jerseys may do so at registration tables located inside the main concourse at the Hoover Met during the games on June 15th - 17th. Each highest bidder will have the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at a future Barons game and donations are 100% tax deductible.

"The Ronald McDonald House is excited to be part of this unique event," said Denson Franklin III, President of the RMHCA Board. "Working with the Barons organization is another example of the tremendous support we have received from the community during the campaign to build a new Ronald McDonald House."

Additionally, two luau jerseys will be auctioned off on eBay from June 15th - 17th for those who are unable to attend games at the Hoover Met on these dates. The minimum bid on eBay for the two luau jerseys will be set at $100.

"We are excited about partnering with the RMHCA in hosting this luau jersey auction, said Jonathan Nelson, General Manager of the Birmingham Barons. "It is our hope to provide a fun and unique theme at the Barons games on June 15th, 16th and 17th, as well as raise money for this important organization in our community."
