HOOVER, Ala. -- Spot starter Jim Bullard threw seven tremendous innings Monday night, leading the Birmingham Barons to a 4-1 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits in the rubber game of a three-game series at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.

The Biscuits pushed their only run across in the fifth inning, when shortstop Jace Brewer tripled and scored on a groundout by Aaron Clark. By that time, the Barons had the game in hand.

Birmingham had scored three times in the second inning off of Biscuits starter Chris Seddon on a solo home run by Jonathan Aceves and three consecutive doubles by Brian Becker, Normand Martel and Guillermo Reyes.

Seddon staggered through seven innings, allowing a fourth run in the third inning on an infield single by Michael Spidale. Seddon allowed a season-high 10 hits and walked four, striking out three. It was the first time this season he walked more than he struck out.

Superb relievers Matt Smith and Jeff Bajenaru each threw a scoreless inning of relief to close the game. Bajenaru earned his 12th save.

Biscuits second baseman Fernando Cortez walked in the eighth inning to extend his consecutive games on base streak to 19, the longest current streak in the league and the longest in Biscuits history.

The Biscuits take Tuesday off before opening a four-game series at West Tenn on Wednesday morning at 11:05.
