The Diamond Jaxx are incorporating a series of Community Nights for counties throughout West Tennessee. The Jaxx are also adding a Medical Night and Realty Night to the calendar. We are offering our biggest group discount on these nights for groups of 25 or more. You can get 25 General Admission tickets for just $50! This group offer is open to all types of groups that would like to enjoy an evening at Pringles Park, including businesses, churches, youth sports teams, and civic organizations. In addition to the great group ticket offer, there is an opportunity to receive FREE advertising for this evening based on the number of seats purchased.

*Diamond Jaxx Look To Burn the Biscuits Again*

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx will welcome the Montgomery Biscuits back to Pringles Park for a four game series from June 30 to July 3rd. The Diamond Jaxx have only lost one time at Pringles Park versus the Biscuits this season and will look to continue their winning ways as they host the Biscuits for the final time in the 2004 season.

The first game of the series will be Super Splash Day at Pringles Park. Super Splash Day will feature a variety of different activitise all sharing the same goal - to get you wet! It is a day where even the players get involved in making sure everyone beats the summer heat! The fun will start at 11:05 in the morning (CST).

For game two of the series on July 1st, it will be "Thirsty Thursday" at Pringles Park. On this day, Diamond Jaxx fans may purchase one (1) fountain drink or draft beer and get the second one (1) at no extra cost! First pitch will be at 7:05pm (CST).

Friday, July 2nd, the first 1,000 fans to enter Pringles Park will take home a free reversible Diamond Jaxx Floppy Hat courtesy of the Diamond Jaxx and E+ Broadband. The gates will open at 6:00pm and the game will commence at 7:05pm (CST).

The Diamond Jaxx will close the series with a bang at 7:05pm (CST) on July 3rd. Before the game, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet their favorite Diamond Jaxx stars on the field. In addition, following the game, the Diamond Jaxx are partnering with WBBJ and the City of Jackson to present a spectacular display of Independence Day Fireworks.

*Diamond Jaxx Off to Rocky Second Half Start*

The Diamond Jaxx started off the second half of the season with a loss to the Greenville Braves. The Braves scored four times in the second inning enroute to a 7-3 victory.

Dwaine Bacon, Mike Dzurilla, and Ronny Cedeno had two hits each for the Diamond Jaxx, but Braves left-hander Dan Meyer gave up just one run on four hits while striking out ten.

After a rain out on the 24th, Diamond Jaxx dropped a pair of games at home to the Braves on the 25th. The Braves won the first game 5-4 in extra innings and scored 5 more runs in the second game to defeat the Diamond Jaxx 5-3.

The Braves scored three runs in the first inning of the first game. Yet, the Diamond Jaxx went on to score some runs of their own and knotted the game up at three in the third after a RBI single by Josh Arteaga. Greenville's Tony Pena hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth, but Dwaine Bacon doubled down the left field line in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game once again. Greenville scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the 9th inning. Nathan Mitchell picked up the loss for the Diamond Jaxx.

In the second game, the Diamond Jaxx took an early 1-0 lead following an RBI single by Matt Craig. The Braves rallied in the top of the 6th with 4 runs and scored another in the 7th, snapping Bobby Brownlie's attempt at a no-hitter. The Diamond Jaxx scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning off a double to left center by Matt Creighton, but that was not enough to stop Bobby Brownlie from suffering the loss.

On Saturday night, the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Mobile BayBears 5-2 in Mobile.

After being down 1-0, the Diamond Jaxx started off the third inning with a single from Mike Mallory. Mallory then scored when Ronny Cedeno knocked a triple to left field. Cedeno scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Diamond Jaxx the lead for good. The Diamond Jaxx scored three more runs and Jermaine Van Buren closed it out in the 9th inning picking up his 15th save of the season.

Renyel Pinto pitched six innings for the Diamond Jaxx. Pinto walked three, struck out six, and gave up just two runs on three hits.

The Diamond Jaxx earned their second straight road win in Mobile on Sunday night as they defeated the BayBears, 5-1.

The Diamond Jaxx took an early 1-0 lead after Chadd Blasko scored on an Aron Weston single to right field. In the next inning Mike Mallory crushed a two run home run following a single by Geovany Soto. Matt Craig also hit a home run in the 7th inning adding to the 10-hit offensive onslaught for the Diamond Jaxx.

Chadd Blasko started the game, but Jordan Gerk picked up the win for the Diamond Jaxx. Gerk pitched three innings giving up just one hit and no runs. With the win, the Diamond Jaxx improved their record to 2-3.

The Diamond Jaxx were held to just one hit in a 5-0 shutout by the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium to close the series on June 28th.

The lone Diamond Jaxx hit was a single off the bat of Matt Creighton. Mobile got all the scoring they would need in the bottom of the 4th inning when Josh Barfield hit a solo home run. Mobile tacked four more runs on in the bottom of the eigth inning allowing Steve Watkins to pick up the win.

Angel Guzman suffered the loss for the Diamond Jaxx moving his 2004 record with the Diamond Jaxx to 0-2. Guzman pitched six solid innings, giving up just two hits while striking out six and allowing no walks.

*Diamond Jaxx Make Roster Moves*

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, started the second half of the Southern League season with new faces on their roster.

The Diamond Jaxx placed both Sean Marshall and Micah Hoffpauir on the disabled list and sent Jemel Spearman to Daytona. To make the roster at the league maximum of twenty-three, RHP Angel Guzman was also called up from Daytona. The Diamond Jaxx also received LHP Ryan O'Malley and infielders Josh Arteaga and Matt Creighton from Triple-A Iowa.

Guzman, widely regarded as the Cubs top prospect, made seven starts with Daytona. He went 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA. Last season, Guzman had a 3-3 record with a 2.81 ERA in fifteen starts with the Diamond Jaxx before ending his season in late June with a shoulder injury.

O'Malley made three starts and eight appearances with Triple-A Iowa. He was 0-2 with an 8.62 ERA. In 15 2/3 innings of work, O'Malley gave up fifteen runs on twenty-three hits. He walked six and struck out eight. Before that, O'Malley made forty appearances, three of those starts, with the Low-A ball Lansing Lugnuts. O'Malley went 6-4 with a 2.88 ERA.

In Iowa, Arteaga appeared in fifteen games, hitting .267 with a homer and six RBI's. Creighton appeared in thirty games with Iowa, hitting an even .400 with four homers and eighteen RBI's. Arteaga and Creighton will be making their second appearance with the Diamond Jaxx this season.

*Dickerson to Coach in MLB All-Star Futures Game*

In an announcement made by Major League Baseball, West Tenn Diamond Jaxx manager Bobby Dickerson has been selected as one of the coaches in the 6th Annual All-Star Futures Game, to be held on July 11th at Houston's Minute Maid Park. The All-Star Futures game is part of Major League Baseball's three day All-Star festivities.

Dickerson is excited about taking part in the game. "I'm very honored to be thought of as part of the future in Major League Baseball. I do my job everyday and it feels like maybe it's been noticed a little bit."

The New York Mercantile Exchange All-Star Futures Game is a seven inning game featuring some of the best Major League prospects from the United States against Major League prospects from various countries throughout the world. There are eleven players that are playing or who have played in the Southern League this season that are taking part in the Futures Game.

The U.S. team will be managed by Rich "Goose" Gossage. Fernando Valenzuela will be the manager of the World team, which features Chicago Cubs prospect Felix Pie. Pie is currently playing for the Cubs High-A ball team in Daytona.
