Oklahoma City Barons News Release
MILWAUKEE - C.J. Stretch, Jason Williams and Kellen Jones each had a goal and an assist as the Oklahoma City Barons downed the Milwaukee Admirals 5-1 Sunday at BMO Harris Bradley Center. Andrew Miller added two assists for the Barons, and goalie Laurent Brossoit stopped 32 shots in the Barons' win.
Stretch netted his first goal this season as a member of the Barons with Oklahoma City leading 2-0 at 4:46 of the second period. After C.J. Ludwig sent a shot on goal that trickled wide of Milwaukee goaltender Marek Mazanek, Stretch corralled the puck just outside the crease and slid it into the Admirals net.
Williams got the game's scoring started at 3:46 of the first period when he deflected a shot from the point by defenseman Dillon Simpson past Mazanek to give the Barons an early 1-0 lead.
At 15:33 of the first, with Milwaukee's Richard Clune serving a boarding penalty, the Barons increased their lead to 2-0 when Bogdan Yakimov took a pass from Andrew Miller in the Admirals slot and wristed a shot over the shoulder of Mazanek.
After Stretch's goal in the second period made the score 3-0, Milwaukee netted its lone goal of the game at 2:07 of the third period when Viktor Arvidsson skated to the right circle of the Barons zone and flung a shot around OKC defender Martin Gernat that eluded Brossoit and sailed into the upper-left corner of the Barons net.
Forty-five seconds later, the Barons regained their three-goal lead when Kellen Jones grabbed a loose puck along the left boards and shuffled a pass to the low Admirals slot, where Josh Winquist slid a backhander through the legs of Mazanek.
Kellen Jones tallied his goal at 6:13 of the third, netting a one timer from the right circle off a Stretch pass to give the Barons a 5-1 lead.
The teams meet again Tuesday, March 10, in a 7 p.m. start at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
