Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Clayton Richard pitched six shutout innings for the Barons, and the Birmingham bullpen preserved the shutout en route to a 4-0 win over the Lookouts in a Wednesday matinee at AT&T Field.
After a hitless first inning, Birmingham broke the scoring seal in the second inning, when a Stefan Gartrell single drove home Thomas Callaro.
The Barons tacked-on another run in the fourth inning on a Javier Castillo RBI triple. Another Birmingham run would be added in fifth on a Ricardo Nanita sac fly to center.
Both teams would fail to score a run until the ninth, when a Victor Valido single, which was preceded by a Cole Armstrong double, stretched the Barons' lead to 4-0.
Clevelan Santeliz and Matt Zaleski pitched the final three frames for the Barons; thus, sealing the win for Richard (1-1).
Michael Griffin slugged two doubles for the Lookouts in the losing effort, giving him five for the season and the Southern League lead in that category.
Ramon Ramirez dropped to 1-1 on the season after throwing 3.2 innings and yielding two runs as the starting pitcher for the Lookouts.
The Lookouts will continue their five-game homestand against the Barons, tomorrow at 7:15. Tickets can be purchased at the Lookouts' box office, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling the ticket office at (423) 267-4849.
