Barons Announce Preseason Slate

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Barons today announced the schedule for the 2003-04 preseason. Michael T. Lehr, president of the Cleveland Barons, made the announcement.

On Tuesday, September 30th, Center Ice Sports Complex in North Canton will host the "Cleveland Barons Black and White Game". The intra-squad contest will begin at 6:30pm. Following the game, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a post-game open skate with the team. Center Ice Sports Complex is located on 8319 Port Jackson Ave NW. The cost of admission is $3 for adults and children 6-and-under will get in free. Fans can take advantage of the Black and White Four Pack. The special ticket package includes 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, and a popcorn for $15. Tickets can be purchased at Center Ice Sports Complex. For more information, call 330-966-0169.

For the second consecutive season, the Barons will play their only home exhibition game against the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks at IceLand USA in Strongsville on Sunday, October 5th at 2:05pm. Following the game, the Barons will host a post-game skate open to the public. The general public will be charged $5 for admission, while fans wearing a hockey jersey will receive one dollar off admission. Tickets can be purchased through IceLand USA by calling 440-268-2800. IceLand USA is located on 15382 Royalton Road.

The Barons will play three exhibition contests in total, as they head to Rochester to battle the Americans in consecutive nights. On Friday, October 3rd, the Elmira Jackals of the United Hockey League will host the exhibition contest between the Barons and Americans at the Coach USA Center at 7:00pm. The next night, Cleveland and Rochester will battle at the Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial at 7:00pm.

Players report to training camp on Sunday, September 28th. After morning physicals, the Barons will open camp with an afternoon practice on Monday, September 29th. A full schedule of practice times will be available in the coming weeks. All Barons practices are open to the public, unless otherwise noted.

"The Barons are constantly looking to expand hockey throughout Northeast Ohio and the games in Canton and Strongsville are a perfect example," stated Lehr. "Not only do the fans have the opportunity to enjoy Barons Hockey in their backyards, they get to interact with the players on the ice right after the game."

The Barons open up the season at home on October 11th at 7:05pm. Group tickets for the game are now available by calling the Barons ticket staff at 216-420-0000.
