Barnstormers Sign Wide Receiver

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers have signed wide receiver Caleb Smith to the 2023 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.

Smith (6-1, 195, Towson) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his first season in the Indoor Football League (IFL). Collegiately, Smith played four seasons at Towson University where he appeared in 31 games collecting 95 receptions for 1,252 yards and six touchdowns with the Tigers. In his senior season, Smith earned honors as an All-CAA Third Team Wide Receiver.

While the 2023 season will be Smith's debut in the indoor game, he is no stranger to the sport. Rodney Smith, Caleb Smith's father, was a dual threat lineman on the offense and defense for the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League (AFL) for seven seasons in the 1990's.

"Caleb is a story of great perseverance," said Head Coach Mogensen. "With an injury wiping out his high school career, Caleb was a college walk-on who became a star receiver. He possesses all of the traits needed to be a dynamite player at the professional level. We are excited to have him aboard and start his professional career with the Barnstormers as another elite speed player who has incredible big-play potential."

Smith will enter the Barnstormers 2023 Training Camp in the Spring.
