Lancaster Stormers News Release

After stumbling through the first three innings at Lebanon Valley College on Friday afternoon, the Lancaster Barnstormers rallied for nine unanswered runs in a 9-3, eight-inning victory over the Black Sox, a travel team of young professional players, Friday afternoon at McGill Field on the campus of Lebanon Valley College.

Colton Shaver ignited the comeback with a two-run single in the third, and the Barnstormers would finally break on top in the bottom of the fourth. With one out in the inning, Mark Zagunis rolled a single up the middle and took second when LeDarious Clark banged a single into left. Anthony Peroni lined a base hit to deep left center with bounced past center fielder Calice Ejoh for an error, allowing the tying and lead runs to score. Jake Hoover also dunked a single into shallow center scoring Peroni for a 5-3 lead, and Devon Torrence produced the second of his three hits on the afternoon, a liner into right to plate Hoover from second, putting Lancaster up by three.

After the first nine Lancaster hits of the day were singles, Shaver unleashed the power with a booming homer well beyond the 365' mark in left center field. Clark tacked on a two-run blast to the same vicinity for the final margin.

The Black Sox struck for a run in the first off starter Dominic DiSabatino when Carson McCurdy's wind blown fly to left center field fell between Kelly Dugan and Clark and the visiting first baseman scored on Ejoh's smash off Shaver's glove in the right side hole. Anthony Brocato and Ejoh rapped out consecutive two-out RBI singles for two more runs in the third.

Lancaster hosts the Black Sox again on Saturday at 1:00 for the annual Fan Fest game. Full gates open at noon with youngsters being let in early for an Ephrata National Bank Piggy in the Park hunt.
