LANCASTER, Pa.-The Lancaster Barnstormers deep ties to the Philadelphia Phillies organization are well known. Team officials today released the following statements on the passing of Phillies legendary and beloved broadcaster Harry Kalas.

Barnstormers manager Von Hayes, who played for the Phillies from 1983 to 1991, including his all-star season in 1989:

"Harry Kalas is truly irreplaceable-the greatest voice in baseball. He was a very dear friend of mine. As players, we knew Harry truly cared about us. I'm obviously shocked by the news and I send my best to the Phillies and to Harry's family. Philadelphia sports will never be the same."

Barnstormers bench coach Tom Herr, who played for Philadelphia in 1989 and 1990, and for the Phillies National League East rival St. Louis Cardinals from 1979-1988:

"My condolences to Harry's immediate family and the entire Philadelphia Phillies family. He was always very courteous and respectful to me, even when I was an opposing player with the Cardinals. In fact, knowing I am a Pennsylvania boy, he always treated me well. Harry's voice will live on forever."

Barnstormers president Jon Danos:

"This is a sad day for baseball generally, and we send our thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Phillies family. As good of a person as Harry Kalas was, I'm struck by how many people who knew him also say what a great baseball mind he had. His contributions to our game are too numerous to measure, and he will be deeply missed."
