Lancaster Stormers News Release
The Lancaster Barnstormers maintained their perfect spring record with a 3-2 victory over the Camden Riversharks Monday afternoon at Campbell's Field.
Tommy Everidge launched a two-run homer to left center in the first inning, and Alan Johnson worked three scoreless innings to boost Lancaster to its third straight pre-season win.
Adam Godwin reached on a first inning single and strode home on the two-out blast by the reigning Atlantic League Player of the Year.
The Barnstormers would not score again until three walks and a sacrifice fly by Chris Caves produced an insurance run in the ninth, but the stingy pitching and defense held the fort, allowing only five hits to the Riversharks.
Johnson gave up one of those hits while walking two and striking out three. Camden did reach reliever Dwayne Pollok for a run in the fifth, the right-hander's second inning of work. Steve Doetsch opened the ninth inning with a triple off closer Tim Hamulack and scored on a single by Brian Burgamy. Hamulack got the side in order after that to notch the save.
The Barnstormers will entertain the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 1 pm on Tuesday in their final spring tuneup. Lancaster will travel to Southern Maryland to open the regular season on Thursday at 7:05.
