Barnstormers End Rockers' Streak

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Lancaster Barnstormers banged out 15 hits on Thursday night and snapped High Point's five-game winning streak with a 10-2 win at Truist Point.

Rocker starting pitcher Craig Stem (0-2) took the loss while Lancaster's Andro Cutura improved to 2-0 with the win.

Giovanny Alfonzo had two of the Rockers' nine hits on the evening including a lead-off triple in the fifth.

Lancaster took a 1-0 in the top of the first when Devon Torrence led off the game with a single and scored following consecutive singles by Caleb Gindl and Blake Gailen. The Barnstormers extended their lead to 2-0 in the second following a lead-off double by LeDarious Clark and back-to-back infield ground outs by Anthony Peroni and Cleuluis Rondon.

The Rockers got on the board in the second when Stuart Levy reached on an error, moved to third on a single by Logan Moore and scored on a sacrifice fly by Adam Taylor.

Caleb Gindl homered to right leading off the third to put Lancaster ahead 3-1. The 'Stormers added two more runs in the frame when Kelly Dugan drew out a two-out walk and moved to second on a single by Blake Allemand. Both scored on a double by Clark for a 5-1 advantage.

Lancaster's lead grew to 6-1 when Melvin Mercedes led off the fifth with a double and scored single by Dugan.

The Rockers cut the deficit to 6-2 in the fifth when Alfonzo led off the frame with a triple and scored on a ground out by James McOwen.

Lancaster added a single run in the sixth and three unearned runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 10-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Rockers Cesar Trejo drew a one out walk and pinch hitter C.J. Farias blasted a long home run to left. However, Trejo missed second base and while the homer stood, only Farias' run counted. The Rockers trailed 10-3 after seven.

High Point will begin a three-game series at home with Gastonia on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Truist Point.
