Barnstormers' Benton Named Defensive Player of Week

Des Moines, Iowa - Iowa Barnstormers and former Iowa State Cyclone Defensive Back Ter'Ran Benton has been named the Russell Athletic Defensive Player of the Week by the Arena Football League for week #1. Benton shined in the Barnstormers 63-41 victory over Chicago, recording 5 tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery along with scoring a touchdown off of a net recovery.
Saturday night's game was just Benton's fifth ever in the Arena Football League. Benton joined the Barnstormers for the final four games of the 2012 season and impressed the coaching staff so much that he was rewarded with a new two-year contract in the off-season. "Ter'Ran has been one of our top players all throughout training camp", stated Barnstormers Head Coach Mike Hohensee. "He is constantly around the ball and he continues to make plays. We expect big things from him in 2013".
The Barnstormers are on the road again this week when they head south to take on the New Orleans Voodoo this Saturday, March 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00pm and the game will be nationally televised on the CBS Sports Network. The Barnstormers home opener is set for Friday, April 5. Kickoff is set for 7:05pm.
