Barnstormers Announce Bacon Bowl Details

(Des Moines, IA) - Organizers of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, the world's premier baconfest, will announce the date and time of the next Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival during halftime at the Iowa Bacon Bowl. While the festival is for adult bacon-lovers only, those eager to experience bacon fellowship in a more family-friendly environment are welcome to attend the Iowa Bacon Bowl.

"My kids have been begging to attend the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival over the past few years," said Marshall Porter, Chief Bacon Officer. Porter continued, "And, I know I'm not alone. So, the Iowa Bacon Board decided the Iowa Bacon Bowl would be a great opportunity to announce the date of the next festival while introducing our little bacon-eaters to a magical bacon football wonderland."

The Iowa Bacon Bowl will be held on Saturday, July 20th. The event will kick off with an exclusive Iowa Bacon Bowl Tailgate Party at 3 p.m. where attendees will receive a commemorative beer mug, one free beverage, live music by Randy Burk and the Prisoners, and the opportunity to purchase bacon-inspired dishes from local restaurants. There will also be a Kids Fun Zone complete with face painting, temporary bacon tattoos, a dunk tank and inflatables. The game begins at 7:05 pm when the Iowa Barnstormers take on the Utah Blaze in the battle for Iowa Bacon Bowl Trophy.

During half-time, the date and location of the 7th Annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival will be announced. The announcement will be followed by an artistic tribute to Iowa's agricultural industry when over 400 bags of bacon will parachute down from the rafters. The bacon parachute drop will eclipse the record of 200 bacon parachutes set at the 2011 bacon festival. Fifty of the bags of bacon will contain a voucher guaranteeing the holder the opportunity to purchase two tickets to the 2014 festival before tickets go on sale to the general public in November.

A limited number of Bacon Bowl Packages are available, so event organizers encourage those planning to attend to purchase their tickets in advance. Each package will include entrance into the Bacon Tailgate and a ticket for the game. The ticket packages are $25 each and will be made available at www.blueribbonbaconfestival.com. The best seats to the game will be awarded in the order tickets are purchased. Season ticket holders will have an option to purchase a ticket to the tailgate while supplies last by calling the Barnstormers' office at (515)633-2255.
