Barnstormers Announce 2014 Schedule

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers in conjunction with the Arena Football League are pleased to announce their 2014 regular season schedule. The Barnstormers will open the 2014 season with three straight road games, beginning on Saturday, March 15 when they travel west to take on the Spokane Shock. The road trip continues with games against the still to be named Portland expansion franchise and the Cleveland Gladiators. Iowa returns to Des Moines for their home opener on Saturday April 12, when they host the San Antonio Talons at 7:05pm.
As was announced earlier this month, the Barnstormers will compete in the AFL's East Division for the 2014 season, which is part of the American Conference. Iowa will have home and home matchups against new division rivals the Pittsburgh Power and Philadelphia Soul, while facing the Cleveland Gladiators 3 times.
One of the highlights of the 2014 schedule is a home matchup against the expansion LA Kiss on Saturday, April 19. This game marks the return of former Barnstormers QB J.J. Raterink, who was traded to the Kiss during the offseason. In addition, the Jacksonville Sharks will make their first ever appearance in Des Moines on Saturday, May 10. The home schedule also features matchups against Orlando (May 31), Tampa (June 14) and San Jose (July 26). After starting the season with 5 road games in their first 7 contests, the Barnstormers will finish the season with 7 of their final 11 games at home.
Once again this season, all Iowa Barnstormers home games will be played at Wells Fargo Arena in downtown Des Moines, IA. All 9 home games will be played on Saturday evenings with a kickoff time of 7:05pm. The complete 2014 Iowa Barnstormers regular season schedule is attached.
