November 11, 2013 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Spokane Shock News Release
SPOKANE, WA (November 11, 2013) - The Arena Football League announced the 2014 regular season schedule on Monday. Spokane will open the 2014 season at home against the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday, March 15th at Spokane Arena with a 7:00 PST kickoff.
The 2014 AFL schedule will kick off one week earlier than the 2013 season as the first games of the season will take place the weekend of Friday, March 14th. The expanded week of play in 2014 will allow teams two bye weeks over the course of the 20-week season, with the Shock receiving breaks during Week 3 and Week 17 of the regular season. Each AFL team will maintain a nine (9) home game and nine (9) away game regular season schedule.
The Shock will be tested on the road early in 2014 after an opening non-conference match up at home against the Barnstormers as they will play in Phoenix, AZ against the Arizona Rattlers in Week 2. After their first bye of the season in Week 3, Spokane will go on to play at Pacific Division rival San Jose before returning home to host back to back home games versus Portland and Cleveland to conclude the month of April.
The Shock's road schedule in 2014 will include two trips to both Arizona and San Jose with each team visiting Spokane Arena once during the regular season. Spokane will also go on the road to face off against one of the AFL's newest teams in the LA Kiss twice during the regular season, but will not host LA at Spokane Arena. The Shock will host the new Portland AFL franchise twice and visit the to-be named team for the final regular season game of the season at the Moda Center. Spokane's 2014 away schedule will also include separate trips to Jacksonville and Tampa Bay.
The Shock's full 2014 regular season schedule is listed below; dates are subject to change and kickoff times are listed in PST.
