DES MOINES, IA. - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations John Gregory today announced the club's 2011 training camp roster. The roster consists of 34 players, including 12 returning players from last year's Barnstormers squad. Training camp officially opens this Sunday, February 20.

Among the many new faces on the Barnstormers is former University of Iowa standout Brad Banks, who was an All-American quarterback for the Hawkeyes. Banks will be part of a spirited competition for the team's starting signal-caller nod, as Gregory brought AFL veteran B.J. Hall and 6'5" Bryan Lee-Luduski into camp

Gregory said the Barnstormers' quarterbacks will have familiar targets as the team returns it's highly talented receiving corps of former Iowa State star Todd Blythe, 2010 receiving leader Jesse Schmidt, Errick McCown and Tommy Ellingworth. Those four players combined for 64 receiving touchdowns in 2010.

The Barnstormers defense will be anchored by former Iowa State All-Big 12 defensive lineman Brent "Big Play" Curvey. In addition to the return of Curvey, Gregory said there will be vigorous competition in training camp for starting positions due to the influx of new talent identified by the Barnstormers revamped scouting operations.

Barnstormers' President Jeff Lamberti said the team made a significant investment in Iowa's scouting operation during the off-season, which led to the Barnstormers having a scouting presence at over a dozen National Football League training camps and cities last year. Many of the players in training camp are a direct result of that effort.

Referencing that investment, Gregory said, "Barnstormers' management spent the off-season searching the country for new talent and the effort has paid off. I'm very excited with the caliber of players we have coming to Des Moines. Through our scouting we were able to recruit numerous players who could very easily be playing every Sunday in the NFL."

Due to numerous conflicts at the Iowa Events Center, the majority of the Barnstormers 2011 training camp will take place at the Jacobson Exhibition Center, located at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. All practices will be open to the general public and the media. The Barnstormers will release their practice schedule for week one of training camp later this week. A full training camp roster is attached.

Iowa Barnstormers 2011 season tickets start at only $117.00 per seat. The team will open on the road in Pittsburgh on Saturday, March 19. The home opener at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Field at Wells Fargo Arena is scheduled for Friday, March 25 against the defending AFL Champion Spokane Shock.
