Barnes Homers Twice as Austin Powers Suns to 5-2 Win

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Austin Barnes galvanized the Jacksonville Suns (18-11, 54-45) by belting a pair of home runs, as the Suns defeated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (10-20, 41-59) 5-2 in Sunday afternoon's series finale from Bragan Field.

Jose Urena (W, 8-7) earned his second straight win, allowing one run (earned) on seven hits, while striking out five and walking three batters in 5.2 innings of work.

Collin Cargill (H, 4) shut down the Wahoos over two scoreless innings, allowing a pair of hits in Sunday's outing.

Matt Ramsey (SV, 3) locked down his third save as a Sun and ninth overall on the year by allowing one unearned run on one hit in the final 1.1 innings of the game.

Michael Lorenzen (L, 4-5) took the loss after surrendering four runs (all earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings of work, while striking out a couple of batters and giving up two home runs.

Pensacola opened up the scoring in the top of the second as Michael Lorenzen helped his own. Ross Perez came down to score on Lorenzen's RBI single to give the Blue Wahoos a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

The Suns were finally able to crack Michael Lorenzen in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three times in the frame. Austin Barnes (HR, 2) led off the inning with a homer to left, and Jacksonville added additional runs on a Brady Shoemaker RBI double and a Wilfredo Gimenez RBI fielder's choice to give Jacksonville a 3-1 lead after four innings of play.

Austin Barnes (HR, 3) continued a torrid 24 hours against the Wahoos by drilling a two-out homer to left, with his second of the game extending Jacksonville's lead to 4-1 after five innings of play.

Jacksonville added to its lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to a two-out RBI single from Alfredo Lopez to push the Suns' lead to 5-1 after eight innings.

Pensacola plated one run to make it a 5-2 Suns lead in the top of the ninth on a fielding error by Terrence Dayleg to cap off Sunday's scoring.

The Suns will welcome the Birmingham Barons to town on Monday for six games in five days, with the first pitch of Monday's series-opening ballgame set for 7:05 p.m. ET. The Suns are yet to announce their starter while the Barons will throw out left-hander Scott Snodgress (5-7, 4.14).
