Iowa Barnstormers News Release

Des Moines, Iowa - Iowa Barnstormers Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Mike Hohensee has had a busy week, adding 4 newcomers to the Barnstormers roster, including 3 well known players to both Iowa and Iowa State football fans.

Over the past few days, the Barnstormers have added two former Iowa State Cyclones, DB Ter'Ran Benton and WR Darius Reynolds. Benton (6-0, 205) appeared in 46 career games from 2008-11, making 33 starts. Last season as a Senior he started all 13 games, making 65 tackles and a team-high 3 interceptions. Meanwhile, Reynolds (6-2, 215) joins the Iowa roster after participating in the Green Bay Packers minicamp this spring. Reynolds was a junior college transfer to Iowa State in 2009 and quickly worked his way up the depth chart. By his Senior season in 2011, he was the Cyclones top WR, hauling in 43 receptions for 695 yards and a team best 7 touchdowns.

In addition, the Barnstormers have been assigned former University of Iowa OL Dace Richardson. Richardson (6-6, 315) played with the Hawkeyes from 2005-09, spending time at both tackle and guard. After two promising years, he suffered a severe knee injury in 2008, forcing him to miss the entire season. However, Richardson returned to start every game in 2009 and was named to the all Big-10 first team and won the teams Comeback Player of the Year award.

Rounding out the quartet of signings is former Northwestern University DB Brian Peters (6-4, 218). Peters played for the Wildcats from 2008-11 appearing in 52 games and making 34 starts at safety. He was named to the all Big-10 first team in 2011. In 2010, he led the team in tackles with 107. Peters is fifth all-time in school history with 12 career interceptions.

All four of these players are active and could be in the lineup Saturday night when the Barnstormers head south to Kansas City to battle the Command. Kickoff for Saturday Night's game is 7:00pm.
