Trenton Thunder News Release

The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce a roster change prior to Tuesday's game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

LHP Manny Banuelos has been transferred from Single-A Tampa and is expected to start for the Thunder Tuesday night. Banuelos last pitched for the Thunder in 2011 when he went 4-5 with a 3.59 ERA and 94 K in 95.1 IP.

Banuelos, a member of the Yankees 40-man roster, underwent Tommy John surgery October 4, 2012 by Dr. James Andrews and missed the entire 2013 season. In five appearances to start the season with the Tampa Yankees, the southpaw allowed four runs (4 ER) in 12.2 IP (2.84 ERA). In four of those five outings he went 3.0 shutout innings, with the lone exception being April 19th at the Daytona Cubs where he allowed four runs in 0.2 IP.

RHP Joel De La Cruz (2-2, 3.86), who was originally scheduled to start Tuesday for the Thunder, is expected to be the first man out of the bullpen.

In order to make room for Banuelos, RHP Jairo Heredia has been transferred to Short Season-A Staten Island's roster.

The Thunder roster currently sits at 25 active players.
