DAVENPORT, IA -- The Quad Cities River Bandits defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-3 Friday night at Modern Woodman Park. Four River Bandit pitchers combined to strike out 15 Timber Rattler hitters in the game and in the season opener for both teams. Justin Roberson drove in a pair of runs for the Bandits.

Daniel Carroll started a Wisconsin rally in the top of the third inning. He was hit by a pitch and stole second. Gavin Dickey drove in Carroll with a single to left for a 1-0 lead.

Quad Cities (1-0) answered in the bottom of the third. Matt Arburr singled in the tying run. The River Bandits took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Roberson.

Wisconsin (0-1) came right back with two runs in the top of the fifth. Carroll knocked in the tying run with a single and took second on an error. Ron Garth's two-out, seeing-eye single through the middle of the infield drove Carroll home with the go-ahead run

Adcock worked a 1-2-3 fifth inning to finish his night. The right-hander allowed two unearned runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in his outing. But, the River Bandits weren't done for the night.

Chambers doubled with one out in the sixth inning off reliever Justin Souza. Dave Carpenter was next and he tripled to the right-centerfield gap to drive in Chambers with the tying run. Roberson grounded into a run scoring fielder's choice later in the inning to give Quad Cities a 4-3 lead.

JD Stambaugh struck out seven over three scoreless innings before turning the game over to Francisco Samuel to finish off the Rattlers. Samuel allowed a one-out single, but got the final two outs for the save.

The Timber Rattlers and River Bandits have doubleheader scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Phillippe Aumont, the first round pick of the Seattle Mariners in 2007, makes his professional debut as the starting pitcher in game one for the Rattlers. Donnie Hume will also make his professional debut when he starts game two. Quad Cities counters with Brian Broderick and Blake King. The first seven inning game starts at 1:00pm.
