Bandits Announce First Player Signings

(Sioux City, IA-December 1, 2009) Today, Sioux City Bandits Head Coach Tommie Williams has announced his first group of players for the 2010 Indoor Football League season. The group includes returning veteran players and some new players that are familiar to Sioux City football fans.

Andy Poulosky-(DL, 6'3 275 lbs) Poulosky returns to the Bandits for a 3rd season. Andy started the 2009 season playing for the Tri-Cities team in the AF2 and came to Sioux City to finish the year with the Bandits. He played 10 games and had 3 TFL and 15 total tackles. In 2008 he played DL and led the team with 3.5 sacks and had 8 TFL in 12 games. Andy played his college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers where he was a backup LB and played on Special Teams. He is a native of Ponca, Nebraska.

Scott Jensen-(QB, 5'11, 190 lbs) Jensen returns to the Bandits for his second season. Scott was the teams leading rusher with 418 yards and scored 6 TDs. Thru the air he was 128 of 226 for 1,279 yards and 25 TDs while throwing only 7 interceptions in 11 games. He averaged 154 yards a game on the ground and throwing the football. Scott played his college football at Eastern Oregon University and is a native of southern California.

Sean Kelly-(DL/LB, 6'3 240 lbs) Kelly returns for his second season of indoor football. In 2009 he was very active defensively with 7.5 TFL and 2 sacks. Sean also had 35 total tackles and 2 fumble recoveries. He is a versatile player that can go to the line or play linebacker. Kelly played his college football at NCAA Division 1AA Florida A & M.

Damon Mothershead-(WR, 5'10 190 lbs) Damon returns for his fourth season with the Bandits. In 2009 he played in 12 games caught 33 passes for 368 yards and 9 TDs. 2008 he had 14 catches for 164 yards and 3 TDs in 11 games and in 2007 in 2 games 8 for 74 yards. In 2005 at Morningside College he played in 13 games and caught 72 passes for 1,093 yards averaging 84 yards a game. Damon is a graduate of Morningside College in Sioux City and is a life long resident of Sioux City.

John Bentley-(RB, 6'0 230 lbs) Bentley comes back to the Bandits for his third season. In 8 games in 2009 he had 97 carries for 309 yards with 7 TDs and 17 catches for 190 yards with 3 TDs. His 2008 season saw him lead the UIF in rushing with 182 carries for 797 yards and 22 TDs averaging 66 yards a game. John also had 28 catches for 181 yards and 4 TDs. John played his college football at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.

Trae Johnson-(WR, 6'3 205 lbs) Johnson comes to the Bandits with some glossy stats from other indoor leagues. In 2009, he played sparingly for the Sioux Falls Storm in the IFL. In 2008 he played in 13 games for the Quad City Steamwheelers in AF2, had 100 catches for 1,027 yards and 17 TDs averaging 79 yards a game. In 2007, also in the AF2 with Tri-Cities Fever, he played 10 games with 61 catches for 669 yards and 15 TDs. Johnson attended Morningside College and led the nation in receiving his senior season, with 81 catches for 1,910 yards and 21 TDs averaging 146 yards a game. He was named to the NAIA All-America First Team.

Antuan Bloom-(WR, 6'0 195 lbs) Bloom comes to the Bandits after a successful college career at Morningside College. With the Mustangs in 2008 he played in 10 games had 40 catches for 627 yards and 7 TD's averaging 62 yards a game. In 2007 Bloom played in 12 games had 93 catches for 1,231 yards and 14 TD's and averaged 102 yards a game. Antuan will be a rookie to the indoor football game.

Leon Hall-(WR/RB, 5'10 185 lbs) Hall comes to the Bandits in a trade with the Sioux Falls Storm. He played the past 5 years with the Storm. In 2008 he had 23 catches for 258 yards and 3 TD's. His best season was in 2007, when he had 65 receptions for 706 yards and 15 TD's, he was also named to the All-Star team. In 2006 he had 27 catches. Leon attended college at Merced Junior College and is a native of Fresno, CA.

Lamain Rucker-(DL, 6'3 330 lbs) Rucker comes to the Bandits with experience in indoor football from the AF2 Peoria Pirates and along with a number of minor league professional teams. He also has played in NFLE (NFL Europe) for the Barcelona Dragons. In college, Rucker played for Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Illinois where, in 1998, he had 79 tackles, 9 TFL 3 sacks, led the defensive line in tackles and TFL, and was named Mid American Conference New Comer of the Year. In 1999, he was a pre-season All MAC selection, led D-Line in tackles for 2nd straight year, and had 70 tackles 6TFL 2 sacks. In 2000, Rucker was signed as a free agent for the Miami Dolphins. Rucker is a native of Chicago, Illinois.

Joe Brannen-(QB, 6'5 215 lbs) Brannen comes to the Bandits with AF2 experience with the Iowa Barnstormers. Joe is a former Coe College and Colo-Nesco High School standout and has Coe College records for completions (444), attempts (896) and yards (6,497) while throwing 47 touchdown passes from 2001-04. In his first season in Arena Football 2 in 2008, Brannen completed 281 of 511 passes for 3,190 yards, 56 touchdowns, 21 interceptions, and a passer rating of 84.2. Brannen also rushed for a team-high 14 touchdowns. Coach Williams "We are extremely happy to have Joe Brannen playing indoor football with the Sioux City Bandits. I actually coached Joe when he was with the Omaha Beef in 2007, now to have him in Sioux City makes the partnership even better. We believe Joe brings a wealth of experience that we need at the QB position, and with the players we are recruiting our offense should continue to move in a positive direction. Brennen says, "I would like to thank Head Coach Tommie Williams for giving me this opportunity to play for the Sioux City Bandits. I can tell from the conversations we have had that he and his staff are excited and committed to bringing a championship caliber team to Sioux City."

Sioux City will open their 10th season of indoor football the first weekend of March. The Bandits will play 7 home games and 7 road games in the IFL United Conference West Division. Division opponents will be the Sioux Falls Storm, Omaha Beef, Colorado Ice and the Wichita Wild. The 2010 IFL schedule will be released in the next couple weeks.
